During the cuzco crisis of the early 2000’s, Verne wrote that this plant from Bob Ressler was the type specimen for cuzcos. Verne would compare his p. torches against this type specimen finding minor differences and declare that all of his plants were good.
When accused of selling many cuzco varieties as perus, Verne showed his Ressler cuzco declaring he would never sell it so as to keep the good cactus plants and good cactus people safe from cuzcos.
