pach TPnonM SSP

This is the non-monstrose TPM sold by California Cactus Center as a peru, now widely accepted as a pach. 

Like the monstrose clone, this one was given the clone name “short spine peru” because it often shows only short spines. Older growth develops 2+” spines. At one time “short spine peru” referred specifically to this one clone, but now the term has been diluted to refer to any peru with short spines. 

Historically available from major cactus nurseries like Cactus Corral, Western Cactus, and Altman Plants occasionally mixed in with the TPM. Probably the same as the plant known as Gator and almost definitely Awful and also probably Toad too. 

Legends say this plant traveled north from Peru on a merchant marine ship.
