pach Torres & Torres

Torres and Torres is a pach found growing in Chile, well outside of the usual range for this species, by Donna Torres and Manuel Torres and was the basis for their paper in the 1995 Yearbook for Ethnomedicine and the Study of Consciousness.
 
All of my Torres and Torres plants come from a single cutting I bought from Sacred Succulents around 2001. I have seen many “Texas Torch” cuttings sold as Torres and Torres. They are similar looking plants. Perhaps it will turn out they are the same. 

We are growing two large Torres and Torres plants here at Cactus Affinity. Both are grown outdoors in Chico, California planted directly in the ground and grown without chemical inputs, grafting, or forced reproduction. While similarly sized overall, one plant is grown in the shade of redwood trees and has not yet flowered. The other is grown with more sun and reached a mature flowering size a few years ago. The flowering plant is pruned carefully to ensure it continues to flower each year. The shade grown plant is cut from more intensively to provide more cuttings for more people to grow.
