Prickly Pear Cactus is a common sight in the high desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I live. It comes alive every spring with beautiful and delicate orange and yellow blooms -- it's one of my favorite times of year to hike in the desert foothills and enjoy the beauty of this prickly beast.
