I bought a couple Hutch 1597 plants from a Berkeley Botanical Garden plant sale around 2006 and have been growing it since.
According to K. Trout, "Sadly the display specimens of P.C.Hutchison 1597 periodically experiences heavy predation by thieves and is removed from public display to enable it to recover and survive."
Collected as a live clone by Paul C. Hutchison on October 10, 1957 above and east of town along road to Piura at elevation 2550 m (8350'). Huancabamba Province, Piura Department, Peru

Got one of the large cuts from them recently and it was awesome and beautiful with FREE SHIPPING too which was also sweet and one of the things I ordered recently had an extra cutting of a super cool trich I had never heard of which caused me to instantly want to buy more stuff so I immediately placed another order 😎 thanks so much!!!
Beautiful center cut that had 3 pups already starting and a good callous on both ends. The pups really greened up within a week of potting and are coming along nicely.
Everything from cactus affinity has been awesome
Perfect tip received. Not a blemish. Spines intact. Yet to see if this is what I’m looking for; but based on reviews, it is.
