A huanu I found growing nearby years ago. From before the time when every huanu had a few names. Rumor has it there is an older, larger mother plant nearby but I haven’t seen it yet. 

“Have you ever seen a monkey evolve into a man?” he asked when he gave me a cutting. 

Without a doubt a huanu, but this cactus is published in The SP Group as a bridge on pages 232-233, 235, 239, and 243. 

All huanu cactus plants were originally introduced by Harry ‘Papa Huan’ Johnson who is also well known for his Cactus Gardens nursery in Fallbrook, California and for producing the Paramount cactus hybrids.    

Our JS159 huanu plants are grown outdoors in Chico, California planted directly in the ground. They are grown without chemical inputs, grafting, or forced reproduction. The cactuses have reached a mature size and are propagated carefully to ensure they continue to flower each year.
