also known as Argentine Giant, this cactus grows prostrate and develops large fragrant flowers

the stems initially grow upright, but sprawl to the side as they lengthen

the Argentine Giant sprouts new stems from the base eventually giving the appearance of a cluster of stems radiating outward from the central growth point

large white funnel-form flowers appear in May-June, often coming in several successive flushes

most of the species in this genus are unscented, but these candicans are an exception and have a delightful fragrance
