Curbside was originally found as trimmings in a pile of yard waste along the side of a residential street in San Jose, CA. The owner has a massive stand of it in his backyard that is presumably at least 50 years old.
To me it looks similar to macro cactus plants such as Poots peru #1 JS20, and RS0004
